FavOrg 1.4 Crashes?

Squareness Wafer

Hello,

After hearing great things about FavOrg, i decided to download v 1.4.
It seems to do the job well, but it also crashes almost all of the
time. After hitting "Go", it goes through a few links and then
crashes.

i get the following message: FavOrg utility has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I'm using Windows XP and IE v6.0.

Any thoughts on what might be happening? It happens whether or not a
browser is open, btw.

Have you tried to unistall it and reinstall? How about deletiong your
favicon folder for icons. And if I can remember right my Favorg
crashed because I had a disk error. Scandisk helped.

You might try FavIconizer as a replacement for FavOrg.

IIRC FavOrg used to be Pricelessware. Should Faviconizer replace it?
Other alternatives?

Ben Cooper (Win?) and I (Win2k) both had problems with FavOrg (more in
same thread).

The second time I ran FavOrg, it crashed. (I also have XP, don't know
if that's relevant.) I then ran LinkSweeper, which checks the validity
of Favorites and moves unusable ones to a folder called Broken Links.
It replaced all icons with the basic one, but after that I was able to
run FavOrg again. I'm still surprised things worked out so well, no
guarantee it would happen again.

i should try scandisk, although it's a brand new pc and hard drive...
i might also try faviconizer... i heard that does a similar thing.

thanks for the suggestion. anyone else experience crashes?

Hi I don't have an answer for you, but I found FavOrg problematic as
well. I am using FavIconizer now and it works much more reliably.

Thanks for the suggestion. i used FavIconizer and it works great! it
ended up finding a few extra icons, too :-)

I have been using FavOrg for the past 3 weeks with no problems. I am using
Windows XP Home SP1 with IE 6 SP1.
