In order to not lose favicons I have been downloading them and then changing
the default icon for the favorite. I have a strange problem with 2 icons.
They are:
en.wikipedia.org/favicon.ico and www.yahoo.com/favicon.ico. The look fine on
the screen. The thumbnails look fine. They look fine in a paint program.
When they display on the link bar they have a black background. Why? I have
no problem with others such as www.versiontracker.com/favicon.ico.

Why don't you just use MVP Kelly's Theriot's solution instead of messing
about like that?

favourite icons (line 108, right column)

I do not run scripts unless I know exactly what they are doing.

Problem solved. The 2 favicons were BMP files rather than ICO.

If you open the scripts from Kelly's site with notepad you will see exactly
what it is going to do.
