No Response. Am I posting in the wrong place?
I've got a download somewhere in WinXP that wont install. I want to
remove it then I can do a new Download
and Install. Where in WinXP is the download likely to be stored please
and can I remove it?
There is a programme in my PC that uses .Net but I dont know what
a .Net is or which programme downloaded it
onto my PC.
I've got the Windows Update shield repeatedly pestering me to download
the .Net Framework 2 Special Pack 1
and I want to if I can, BUT I cant do a new download and install
because the download part is already on my system
somewhere but it wont install.
So I'm seeking your help please.
..NET ("dot net") provides a runtime environment for many applications
developed since its introduction. Indeed, a program developed in, for
example, Visual Studio .NET won't run without the .NET framework
installed. There could be multiple programs that depend on .NET, and
it comes in basically four versions, so far (1, 2, 3, and 3.5), all of
which are to be installed simultaneously -- i.e., you don't upgrade
from version 1 to version 2 to version 3. All .NET installations are
listed in Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, and they're installed
in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET.
The SP1 you mention is freely downloadable. Start here at Microsoft
http://tinyurl.com/o4omy , but you can also download it at places like
FileHippo
http://filehippo.com/download_dotnet_framework_2/ .
Once downloaded, just run it like any executable. Even if you
downloaded it before, that should not prevent you from running the SP1
installation.
