Hi,

Just a simple question :) does anyone know of any good tools to use
when booting, that can scan the hardware and check for faults ? Also is
there any good websites where i can find tools or software to do the
checking task ?

Thanks for your time.

There are general all-purpose tools and then there are tools for
specific uses. Check out the Ultimate Boot CD for a collection all in
one place. There are various motherboard testers on there, and you can
also use TuffTest.

For hard drives, I like to use the diagnostic provided by the particular
drive mftr.; an additional plus is that the error code can be used if
you're going to RMA the drive. Seagate's SeaTools is also good because
it will check non-Seagate drives. For RAM, I like Memtest86+.

In many cases, hardware troubleshooting comes down to swapping stuff out
for known-working components and not software. Are you trying to solve
a particular problem or just gathering general information? In any
case, post back if you'd like more help.

Cheers,

Malke
