If you've been getting this error since purchasing the computer this is the
wrong place to be posting. All support is Dell's responsibility as MS
doesn't support OEM installations - never has, never will. So, as it's still
under warranty, please contact Dell Technical Support.

And Dell Technical Support probably told him to reinstall!

Oh almost certainly - it's their stock answer to everything and anything
they don't understand! I can't bad mouth them too much though - they did
replace my dad's dead 10G drive with an 80 - even though, technically, it
was no longer covered by his company's site extended warranty because he
retired and brought it home. He tried to blame me too - because the last
thing that happened to it before it went to Silicon Heaven was me installing
2000 SP4. I tried to explain that software can't kill hardware (at least
nothing as innocent as a MS SP) but he *still* doesn't really believe me! :)
