hi folks i,ve recently bought an acer aspire 1652 laptop which i,m very pleased with it came supplied with a dvd re-writer but the system is installed on a fat32 os (DOH)

i know i can change it going command prompt (convert c :/fs:ntfs) but i,ve heard said that doing so writes the new files over the mbr giving fragmented mbr and poor os
any insights and tips would be much appreciated

yeah acers are FAT32.

Leave it as that it will be OK

Mines on FAT runs good.

Dont know why they use it tho

they keep the os as fat32 for the support teams(easier to diagnose) but ntfs is better for xp more secure, better backup etc.

but cheers for help anyway:thumb:
