Has anyone been able to find drivers that work with this onboard RAID
controller? I have and nforce2 mobo with a third party controller added.
Nvidia drivers don't support it and MSI doesn't list Vista drivers

Thanks

Hey Xplanes,

I have a Promise FastTrak 378 RAID Controller, and was unable to find any
drivers either that Windows Vista setup could recognize. I'm not sure what
kind of drivers Setup wants.

However, if you can get Vista installed at all (say... on an IDE drive), the
Fast Trak drivers for Windows XP should work just fine. You can find 64-bit
drivers at www.PlanetAMD64.com, or 32-bit drivers at
ftp://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/ide/promise_2.00.0.21.zip

Promise Fast Trak 378 Drivers for Windows Vista:

32-bit: ftp://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/ide/promise_2.00.0.21.zip
OR http://www.twuni.net/files/drivers/32/promise-fasttrak-x86.zip

64-bit: http://www.twuni.net/files/drivers/64/promise-fasttrak-x64.zip
OR visit http://www.PlanetAMD64.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showcat=8
and browse for drivers there.

The drivers in either of these two packages will work *after* you have
Windows Vista installed, but I haven't gotten Setup to recognize them, yet. I
installed Vista on my IDE drive (not in RAID), and installed the drivers for
my RAID afterwards. I'm anxious to see if anyone has gotten Vista Setup to
recognize their Fast Trak controller...

Hope this helps.

Thanks Devin,

I got part way through a dual boot install and now I am stuck with the boot
load manager from Vista. My C: drive is on the SATA drive. I was told that
if I ran the Vista DVD from Windows XP it would use the XP drivers. NOT! I
got a stop error when it rebooted to the C: drive even though I had an IDE
drive to put Vista on. I'm afraid unless I unplug my SATA drive and just
install Vista on the IDE drive I will not be able to install Vista at all.
This sux.

Thanks again for the help.

Lou

*** Correction on the URL ***

Sorry about that... meant to place the files in FTP folders, not regular
HTTP. Here are the links again:

32-bit: ftp://ftp.superlift.com/pub/drivers/promise32.zip
64-bit: ftp://ftp.superlift.com/pub/drivers/promise64.zip

I've got the same problem. When I try to install Vista from XP it tells me
to upgrade "Promise Technology Inc. Ultra IDE Controller"

I updated that, and then it tells me to update "XP Promise Ultra 100 (tm)
Controller"

Only thing is I'm attached via SATA, and as I'm in my apartment with only
one computer (my laptop) I can't get the Hard Drive connected via IDE. I
wish there was a solution so Vista could be installed on a SATA Hard Drive
using the Promise Controller.

I burned 2 CD's. One with the XP drivers for Ultra and another with the Win
2003 drivers fot SATA support. I had to burn the files on the root
directory, but when Vista tried to install I popped in the CD's and it had to
uncheck the "Hide drivers that are not compatible with this computer's
hardware"

I tried both the Win2003 and the Ultra 100 XP drivers but each time there
was still no drive appearing after I hit Refresh. I tried about 3 times and
still no luck.

Anyone have any idea why my hard drive isnt showing up? It's a Fujitsu SATA
hard drive.

Same here. All links are broken :-(
On the other hand RC2 seems to have built-in (but broken for me) Promise
drivers.

I've a MSI board, AND the problem I've getting the latest version of the
drivers for x64 is that they are not signed correctly :-(
For x64 VIsta, all drivers must be signed. So when I try to update to the
newer drivers (taken from the promise site as I read the asus one had a small
problem), driver install fails because the driver is not trusted.

Thx for your answer still. I'll try the asus site in case they have corectly
signed x64 drivers.

Thanks
Terry
