Could one tilt a selected image in faststone or Irfanview by a degree(s)
in either direction as we do it in Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition.

I would like to have a rotation suited to my needs like as one could do
in Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition which gives the preview also at the
time of doing this this action.
My problem: while one scans a pic and if the picture has not been
aligned in a upright manner on the plate of the scanner, with Adobe
PhotoDeluxe Home Edition one can align it straight and cut all the
superfluous areas without harming the scanned opic.

MS Digital Image 9, 10 and 2006 have a
Straighten tool with an Auto Crop feature
for that purpose.

If you would like to try it you can download
the 60 day trial of the Starter Edition 2006:

Thanks for the information.

I have long back downloaded the starter edition which is expiring just
after two days now . Besides the Straighten tool about which you have
pointed out is not the thing that is solving the problem and this tool
does not seem to me that versatile that is in the Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home
Edition 3.1.

In Adobe, just one click on the picture makes four semicircular small
arcs on the four corners of the picture and just when one keeps the
mouse on any one of the semi-circular arc it changes itself into an
double-headed-arc and just pressing the mouse rotates the picture in any
direction and in any smallest angle whatsoever imaginable.
I think FastStone / Irfanview do not have this.

You can do something similar in DIS2006...

Open an image...left click the image...go to...
Edit / Unlock...now you can rotate it by dragging
the top center handle.

If you have a problem rotating the image only
a slight amount...go to...Tools and uncheck...
Snap Rotation.

For a reference you can drag the rulers
onto the image for a verticle or horizontal
frame of reference..

Then...of course, you would have to crop
the picture.

You are correct.

Just wondering why you don't still use Adobe
PhotoDeluxe if it was your favorite program?

Thank you very much for this guidance and yes I have learnt to do it
with digital image starter editor. Unfortunately its life in my pc is
just one day now.
I have been using Irfanview/FastStone again and again and in fact my
fingers always go for ctrl+Alt+I and Ctrl+Alt+F to open these two
programs and somehow I have not liked APDelux---but now onwards I will
have to use it fully for the job.
Thanks again for the help.
