there is anyway i can shorten my laptop start up time
period.

Hi,

Following steps can be done to shorten the start up time:

1) Disable the unwanted service running on your laptop.
2) uncheck the startup programs loading while start up.
3) Delete if you have any drive mappings on network.

Thanks,

You can also right-click My Computer, select Properties, select the
Advanced tab, select Settings under Startup and Recovery, and decrease
the number of seconds for showing "Time to display..."

Hi all,
I need you guys to help me out.
I have some industrial PCs running Windows 2000 (workstation & server). I
often discover that the 'paste' button becomes inactive after running for
some our. I would have to restart two or three times before I could get the
button active.
Please what could be responsible for that and what can I do?
Thanks.

In which application?

Generally, the Paste function will only be available if the clipboard
contains data which the current application considers "pastable". E.g.
if I put a bitmap into the clipboard, my (text based) newsreader's Paste
function is greyed out; conversely, if I put plain text into the
clipboard, MS Paint's paste function is unavailable.

Thanks Michael,
I normally experience this when I'm 'copying and paste' files on Window
explorer.
Restarting the PC seems to solve the problem, but it's temporal solution.

Thanks

Some people report this behaviour when they got infected with the
Blaster virus. Is the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service running? How's
your anti-virus software? Any unusual entries in the Event Logs?

Other possibles:
Do the machines have enough RAM? What does the Performance tab of the
Task Manager (taskmgr.exe) tell you?

Any chance of misbehaving programs (e.g. SpyWare) running on these
machines? Can you identify the entries in Task Manager's Processes tab?
Any obvious memory hogs on that page?

Thanks so much Michael,
I think this problem has been resolved with the so many updates I got from
Microsoft update website.
I have not experienced it after I had an upgrade to SP4 and some other
critical updates.
Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Sanya
