Fastclick inquiry

I seem to have fastclick on this computer and I want to get it off.
At the fastclick.net site they have a "cookie" that blocks the operation of
their spyware (they say) but I don't think so....
The links I've followed about removing fastclick have taken me to a
SpyHunter site. I installed THAT, but AdAware catches it as a threat, so
I've uninstalled it.
Does anyone have a site or instructions for removing fastclick or any of its
varieties.
I am now getting startup messages that various components of SpyHunter can't
be found (good!), and I have a little more work to kill it.
Thanks,
Gary

From BS:
If, when you were working online to the credit card company, you were in a
secure session--https--with the little lock icon--I believe you are fine.

If you go here:

https://www.fastclick.com/v4/safe_optout.go

they will even offer you an optout cookie. I believe this is safe.

This is commercial adware, and you should remove the activex control related
to it, which I suspect Microsoft Antispyware would offer to do if you do a
scan--but I don't believe it is stealing personal information directly.

In general, data entered via encrypted links, which the HTTPS session is, is
secure, except when you have a keylogger in place on your system. Microsoft
Antispyware tries very hard to catch all keyloggers.

I don't trust their optout cookie. How on earth does adding a cookie
eliminate the spyware?
Anyway, I've cleaned all the startup, removed all urls and registry entries
related to fastclick, and the system seems to start up without any
components I don't know about.
Time to run some deep scans and check for orphans.
I've learned now to back up my system areas before letting the teens onto
the computer. (Still running W2K, so no restores.)
Running MSAS found my first detection by it, BTW, which was something like
new dot net. I never heard of it, but it's gone now, I guess.
Thanks for answering.
