Fast?
Have you tried running Task Manager and checking out
processor usage? On my system, gcasServ.exe uses about 50%
of the processing time, all the time! That seems a little
excessive to me. I thought it must be the real-time
protection, but it keeps running even when I switch that
off. So what on Earth is it, and what's it playing at? I
have both SpywareGuard and SpywareBlaster running, neither
of which use more than a smidgen of the processing time.
On the other hand, a full scan does seem to be quite fast,
and the first time I ran it, it found a whole load of
stuff that the above-mentioned programs, plus SpyBot and
Ad-Aware, had overlooked - including no fewer than four
dialers! Nevertheless, such heavy processor usage is a
serious issue, even on my 3GHz P4, particularly when it
continues even in the absence of real-time protection. Is
it possible that it's conflictng with something?
