I have the Powercolor Radeon 9200Se, I have the newest drivers. Well I
looked at the Smartgear tab and under Fastwrite its always off. I try to
turn it on and restart but it goes right back to off. I have the ECS L7S7A2
Motherboard. I have 8X agp enabled. I have the newest bios too. Why cant i
enable fastwrite? In my bios i have fast-write enabled too.

some one said a while ago that the bios may support fastwrites but he MB may not,,,,well I could find no proof exactly but I did
find a statement along the way that said that the are functions written to bios software that aren't nessasarely available in all
MB's.
That being said I have seen this behavior on many different boards, with no other explanation. Fastwrites is nothing to get excited
about any longer. so leave it be.

Indeed, there was a post here by Sham B just a day or two ago linking to a
comparison of performance with and without fast writes... it's within 0.5%
from what I recall.

SmartGART supposedly tests fast writes and disables them by default on
certain chipsets, including most VIA and SIS boards. It's no big deal, you'd
never be able to tell any significant performance difference.
