I have a W2k Advanced Server SP3 installed on a 4-Processor-Machine with 8GB RAM and SAP R/3 running
I have done the /3GB and the /PAE entry in the boot.ini and the registry-entry "PoolUsageMaximum"

The Registry Size (you find it in the properties on "My computer") has reached 72MB, the maximum size. So I set the maximum size to 100MB. After one week the registry size reached 100MB again. And so on..

I dont find programms that writes continuously in the registry. I think its a problem with the 8GB RAM

Can anybody help me?

This may help you determine what process is ballooning the registry.

Besides using Regmon, suggested by Dave Patrick, it might help if we knew what the roll of the server was. Also, if you
look at the hive files for the registry in %systemroot%\system32\config which one is increasing in size after a reboot,
Security and Software are the two most common ones. There are several programs that have had issues and been
known to cause the Software hive to grow to large, especially if the system is a Terminal Server and the program is being
used by multiple users.

Thanks a lot
The server is a Intel Xeon HP-system. Running SAP R/3 Enterprise 47X110 with SAP DB. Its our productive-system
There are about <200 Users connected. But its no terminal server or DC
This Patches are installed: SP3, (811630) (823718) (810833) (Q328310) (329170) (Q323255) (326886) (Q329414) (815021) (816093) (817606) (822679) (823559) (KB824146) (KB824141) (KB823182) (KB826232
(KB825119) (KB828035) (KB828749) (KB824145
The size of the \system32\config-Folder is about 18,5MB. I will restart the server in some hours to see the growth of the hive files

Restart should not be needed. Perhaps ntbackup.exe "ERD" with "Also
backup..." checked and view in %systemroot%\repair\RegBack\. ?
