Hi all,
I am looking to purchase an inkjet printer that is quick to print colour
text (we will not be printing out photos). I have been looking at the canon
i860 - can anyone tell me how fast this really is when printing out colour
text documents?
If this printer is not suitable, can anyone direct me to a better
alternative?
thanks,
df
Failing actual user's objective comments I tend to rely on PC-Pro to
produce the goods.
They recently reviewed the i865 amongst 12 or so other printers.
It was best in many categories but could be described as a manufacturer's
overstatement when it comes to PPM in Black or Colour.
Canon state : Draft Black as 23 Ppm and normal 12.4 Ppm.
Colour: hold yer breath, Canon state - Draft 16 Ppm and normal 23 Ppm.
Whereas the actual tested speed was 0.6 Ppm.
I don't believe there is a misprint as the results across all printers were
consistent with Canon's.
Tested speeds for Mono Draft were : 10.6 Ppm (Canon say 23) And Normal
tested 5 Ppm ( Canon say 12.4 Ppm)
That's one heck of a wacking % differenceor overstated by about 2 thirds
everytime ?
I think you'll find it's the old Mono 5% game all over again
The only other printer that beat the Canon on actual tested speed was the
Epson C84 (pigmented inks) and the Canon of course is pigmented black and
dye based colours. Looks like you've found the quickest - maybe there is a
steriod ink in the pipeline...
