Fast audio playback

I see a few people are having the same problem with audio
being played at twice the speed. I'm having the same
problem. Does anyone know if Microsoft has responded to
these issues and if so what is their response for fixing
this problem?
 
Sound card drivers are the usual suspect, update them or try lowering the
sound card hardware acceleration on the card.
 
How does one lower the sound card hardware acceleration on
the card?
