You Know Who ~

Hi
A few hours ago I downloaded what was represented to be an upgrade from
windows upgrade. It was a cs audio driver which hopelessly fouled up my
computer to a fare-thee-well and removed all ability to play audio.

I finally got the original realtec driver back (rolled back driver after
spending an hour learning I could do that) and I have sound again, but now I
get a message that windows cannot load cmicnfg.cpl in the control panel.
HELP.
Thanks in advance

That is the main reason I never, ever install drivers from Windows Update.
I would suggest you reinstall the original driver, from your PC mfg's
website.

Go to the hardware manufacturer's web page and download/install the actual
driver from them.
Never get drivers from the Windows Update web page - unless it is a
Microsoft piece of hardware.
Always get them from the source - in other words - those who actually
produced said product.

Thanks, I ended up reinstalling the drivers and I will take your advice
about not installing hardware upgrades through the microsoft site.
