The basis of Far Cry 2's story telling: Characters and situations are swapped via a software author, its responding to choices made by you the player. Its something that's been on the cards for some time - mostly in research projects - but this is the first high-profile game to use it.
Its nothing less than a revelation. What makes this procedural storytelling cool isn't that you get to play the game lots of times, and see new things happen, or do things in new ways, Its not even that it gives you stories to share, situations to compare with your friends. Its that the game just works and responds to your successes, failures and fudigglys.
If you don't like what a guy is asking you to do, then don't do it... If you really like one of your buddies, you stick with him. When the situations force choices on you... By God, its incredible

I've always wanted a game in which the way you play a game impacts the outcome - and this sounds exactly like it :D

~50 hours of gameplay also sounds like good value

Only about 3 weeks till it's release date :thumb:

Looks good, i wonder what kind of setup they use to show the graphics in gameplay???

I notice both Play.com & HMV are selling it for £25.00.

Play.com are supplying it in a 'steel book' (whatever that is, presumably a steel case) and HMV give you four extra prequel missions if you pre-order.

This game has to be a definite purchase :thumb:

Ubisofts 'Farcry2 experience' where you get to see the game being played & you get to make decisions about what to do next, i.e. go on foot or take the glider & then the demo continues with your choice & so on thru various vehicle & weapon choices, definately worth a look

At the end it gives a sort of score of how you did

Now that was fun :D!

Really looking forward to getting this now, it looks like it's gonna be good

Yep, that was good, me an all-rounder too.

I have a funny feeling that whatever choices you make, everybody will be a good all-rounder, that makes for sound marketing strategy ;)

I've just pre-ordered this game from Play.com, the 'exclusive steel book edition' for £25.00 inc postage.

Release day is Friday, I wonder if it will arrive on Friday?

Can't wait :)

Dont wanna put you off Flops, but the last thing i preordered from play didn't arrive on the release day like it should have.:(

I've had this preordered from Amazon for a while now. They usually despatch it the day before release. :)

Bugger

Play.com have been good for me in the past but I think this is the first thing I've ever pre-ordered.

A parcel from Play.com was lost once and I had to wait 30 days to make sure it didn't show up. It didn't. I was refunded, no problems.

Amazon are good but I was rather tempted by the steel book thingie at Play.com, kinda like getting a plastic car in a packet of Ricicles :D

Hmmm, everything i read about this is leading up to me being hugely disappointed.....

Respawning enemies, Shocking AI, Linear gameplay (after it was said this will be free roaming) the graphics are the only thing its got going for it by the looks of it.... :(

Oh well, ill install it tonight and see how it goes. :)

What do you think of it so far, better than you suspected in the last post? :)

Well......

The mouse movement is odd to say the least....

Not played it too much as i was away this weekend. will let you know. :)

However the graphics are sweet.....

All maxed with 2x AA 1680x1050 down to 1000x625
