I upgraded my nVidia drivers to those on their website and now when I launch
Far Cry the screen goes black (as though the game is going to launch) then
nothing. When I do Ctrl/Alt/Supp I see there is a screen in the back ground
called Critical Exception.

Any hints, or should I roll back to before I installed the new set of
drivers ?

I was using Far Cry v 1.3 perfectly before updating the nVidia drivers.

Cheers,
Jerry

If updating to the latest drivers caused the problem, then the best solution
would be to roll back to the previous set.

I've seen quite a few reports that the 77.72 NVidia drivers aren't
particularly up to snuff, and after installing them myself, I rolled back to
the 71.89s to resolve problems introduced in the 77.72s.

Before uninstalling or rolling back the drivers. Try removing any .cfg
files that Far Cry uses, a lot of games will store the graphics card it's
expecting in an options file, it might not be a config file - when they
don't see it they panic, usually deleting this file will force them to
re-detect the graphics card.

Failing that try uninstalling and then reinstalling Far Cry.
