Fans necessary?

I'm curious about what people think of this:

I've bought two cases and 2 Asus/Via
boards recently. both cases have a big
fitting in back for a 4 5/8" fan. There are
no holes in front for hard disk ventilation.

Is the fan is supposed to blow in?

Also, I haven't installed a fan yet, but already
the built-in "Cool and Quiet" function in the
BIOS is keeping a Sempron 3100+ down
to under 80F! That's with only the CPU fan
and power supply fan. So do I really need
the big fan in back?

What video card? Will you be playing modern games? If not, may be OK
with PSU fan extracting the hot air. Just monitor the case temp with MBM or
Spedfan.

Not really. PCs have worked for years without case fans.

It is further alleged that on or about Wed, 26 Apr 2006 19:34:02 GMT,
in alt.comp.hardware.pc-homebuilt, the queezy keyboard of "mayayana"

Blow out.

Thanks, all. I guess that decides it: I
probably don't need the fan.
(The video is just onboard. It's a simple
machine being used for email, MS Word,
etc. So there's lots of room and not much
heat except from the CPU.)
