Fancy fonts

Is there any way in Front Page to have "fancy font", ie shadow, holow, curved
across a page, etc. I tried looking in fonts and effects. I'm sure there
must be an easy way I've overlooked.

Only if you make the text an image with the special effect. All fonts displayed on a web page must
be installed on the site visitor's computer in order for text to be seen in the specific font.

Hi Scott,

In order for a specific font to be seen on a web page..the person viewing it
must also have that font installed on their machine. So in most cases that
will not be the case. To get around that you could consider making some text
using the font that you want and turning it into a .gif image. in an image
editing program. You can then insert that image into your page. If you use
that method sparingly..people can then see the font the way you
intended..the key is though to not do all of your text that way..just some
select areas.

Hi
If you are doing logos or headers and want drop shadows type effects the
best and usual way is to use an graphic tool editor such as
Photoshop/illustrator then save as an image. this is the only way to
guarantee that the viewer will see what you intend them to see.

Can't you just insert some WordArt....you can do that right from
FrontPage.

Click Insert at the top of the screen and scroll down to where it says
picture.
Scroll over and select Word Art.

You can change the shape, color, type of font, size, rotate-all of
that.

WordArt only work correctly for IE users under Windows.

WordArt is just one of them features that should not be used
for websites.

Why?
WordArt & ClipArt both utilize VML (vector markup language),
and only IE can display it properly. For non-IE users, they
get a crude gif image of what you intended.

Work around:
Publisher 2003 (unknown about 2002 and other Office apps)
can be used to create the wordart and save it the
publication as an image file which can be imported and used
just like any other image

You probably mean Word Art.....but that's not really the best idea.

Word Art is a VML object and works best in IE browsers and is unpredictable
in other browsers (either doesn't show at all, or shows a GIF
versions(usually poor quality)).

What you need to do is create the word art on a page in FP, then take a
screen-capture (PrntScr key) and paste this into your graphics editor. Crop
the image to size, and save as GIF/JPEG.

Then import the image into the web and place it in your page.

Use Word Art sparingly (if you must use it at all) eg for titles, since its
original intention, was for print-publications (which is why it first showed
up in Publisher and Word)
