Fan runs every 15 seconds

My HP Pavilion fan runs every 15 seconds and never used to do this. I use this to surf the net and don't sniff the capabilities/total usage of this machine. It never used to do this until a week or so ago. Any hints?... I'm not the best at this stuff so please write in plain english.... Thanks
