Hi, I'm looking for a fan controller which will accomodate at least 3 fans
and which will not "hum" at all. I've read lots of reviews of various fan
controllers but I would like to survey those who actually have a fan
controller so you could tell me what you think. Or I'll accept any
suggestions as well.
Thanks.

right now I have my eyes on this

what do you guys think?

The one you link is being called a Rheobus... Rheobus <> PWM
controller, they are two different types of fan control.
Rheobus uses a rheostat that is a high-current varible
resistance, while PWM varies the Pulse Width.

Essentially, hum should be from an inductor. Anything with
one is subject to noise, but all could have a blob of epoxy
(non-conductive, higher-heat type) put onto noisey areas.
This seems less desirable, but they do generally handle
higher current fans unless you buy something really
expensive, for really big rheostats.

$40 for one seems a bit outrageous to me though, often they
can be found on sale for about $8-25, and a few under $25 at
normal street prices. That is, unless the looks of it are
REALLY important to you and a particular model matches the
case.

I have a sunbeam and a vantec, the vantec makes a slight hum
bit it's never been bad enough for me to get motivated to do
anything about it. The sunbeam is just too bright though,
unless it's hidden away behind a front panel, which mine is
yet it still shines though 3mm thick opaque white plastic.

Ive Got a Vantec NXP-201-SL, great, glows blue, and controls all my
fans, has four connectors, but you can get cables to connect double
that, as i know ive got 2 fans being controled by one knob.

I had my original controler have that HUM Kony and i RMA'ed it back
was to anoying tohave a quiet system and this Buzzing, my was not a
hum, so i RMA'ed it back to Americia and then sent me a NEw none
buzzing version back, very happy and did not cost me a cent, and took
under 2 weeks to get to me in Australia, shit some things i order in
my country take nearly as long.

Heres a link to the one i have http://www.vantecusa.com/p_nxp_201.html

I think i got it for 50 bucks Austrialian so thats about 20,30 bucks
American or so, worth it to have your fans at 7volts and a turn of a
knob and it gos SOOOOOOOOo well with my front 120mm Blue LED fan :)

Hope this helps, though their are many more, i bought this one becuase
it just looks so damn good.

Bye.
