false alarm

disregard the last post i got a little pissed cause i
didn't relaize i had to restart it again. but the problem
with the grey shadows still isn't solved. someone please
help me.

They are just there, off the sides of windwo behind lines
of text and they run across the whole page the darker the
color or background the darker the shadow. its a strange
thing. i need to get rid of it
 
On a normal CRT. I've seen that with a poor-quality cable, or when using
extension cables or a switchbox. The cable could be damaged or a problem
with the pins.

Or, on an LCD screen, I saw one with that effect that was defective out of
the box.
