MS Defender Beta 2 will not stop your system being infected by Falconspy. Nor
will NAV 2005 both with latest definitions running on WinXP SP2. I was able
to restore to an earlier checkpoint and my pc appears stable. So much for
trying to protect your computer using the "best" software available!

Hi

Spyfalcon is a unwanted application which usually installs with great
help from a user ie "social engineering".

NAV 2005 is worthless, within NIS 2006 you have a module for unwanted
apps and security risks.

How to remove Spyfalcon:

Neither NAV or WD can be classified as "state of the art".....or
"best".

Try Ewido or A-squared for real protection. (Made in Europe ;) )

Cutting straight to the chase less personal opinion not backed up by fact.
The article the Plun quotes, below, is highly technical yet _does_ work.

If you cannot or wish not to implement the above tools, register at the
Bleeping Computer Forum - post a brief synopsis of your issue and
a Spyware Expert will take care of you.
Feel free to mention that I sent you.

Good luck!

Hi Randy

I don´t believe that this article is "highly technical" for a majority
of users. Perhaps there also is a problem with some forums which needs
Google incomes for manual removals.

I don´t like log file analysis beacuse todays removal programs has
high standard. We need a few high skilled forums, not a new fora in
every corner.... ;)

Users must learn to press "SCAN" and "Remove"

Ewido probably removes Spyfalcon in "automagic" mode.....
Without any trouble.

Many users seek help in running so many tools to disinfect their machines,
which is fine - since we want "clean machines".
This is why we have expert Forums for users that need Spyware help.
At no cost to you other than a voluntary donation to the site.
Perhaps there also is a problem with some forums which needs Google incomes
for manual removals.
To this statement, I cannot comment.

When you say "log file analysis - you *are* referring to HijackThis?
IMO - Plun - one of the most indespensible anti-hijack tools ever written.
The author of the program is now an MVP.
We need a few high skilled forums, not a new fora in every corner.... ;)
Define this, please.
Users must learn to press "SCAN" and "Remove"
Perhaps - depending on what program or process to which you refer.
Ewido probably removes Spyfalcon in "automagic" mode.....
Without any trouble.
Don't place your bets on one program to do it all for you.
This why there are Parasite fixing recipes such as the one in the cited URL.
Not taking away from the folks at Ewido.

Hi Randy

Well, the challenge is indeed how to choose the right tool.

If we take MS security page, it´s WD, Lavasoft Adaware and Spybot.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/windowsxp/Default.mspx

Get Antispyware Software and of course SP2..............
Really easy !

Install and run them ! Scan > Remove..... (I cannot believe that so
many users cannot understand this simple advice from MS)

Some forums like Aumha and Castlecops tries to make users to perform
steps before HijackThis. (Really good !)

So every user must learn how to scan.....

If we then take todays threat with todays "state of the art", Ewido and
A-squared, I would directly run them instead of posting never ending
logs.

The most strange form of logs can be found in Lavasofts forum......
They must love logs ;)

About special threats such as Smitfraud or Vundo and special tools I
have never seen any user with severe problems which have used those
removal tools. Maybe some heavily messed up junk PC but not beacuse of
the tool.

So more "canned messages" to the public ;)
Tragic to watch this "theatre"...

If I help a user I directly make advices to run these tools then, if
something persists it´s time for Hijackthis.
