I recieved an e-mail tonight that said it was from
"MICROSOFT" <[email protected]>
It said that My computer might have a worm on it and to
download the attachment immediately... DON'T DO IT!!! I
scanned it and reported it to my isp who also confirmed
that this message contains a w32 worm. I do not remember
which one but I do know that it stays in your memory, it
is hard to get rid of.. Any info on this or updates
please let me know. Thanks.

Microsoft DOES NOT include attachmenst with e-mail.

That has been mentioned in these newsgroups many a time over tha past month
or so.

Brian:

It sounds like you have been hit by the W32.Swen virus that hit the Internet
in a big way about six weeks ago. If you install a good antivirus program
such as Norton AntiVirus you should be able to remove it and also
automatically detect and delete infected e-mail attachments as they are
received in your e-mail program. After a period of intense activity I have
seen this particular virus taper off drastically in the last week or so.

There are numerous versions of the message that are used to spoof Microsoft
as the sender. You should go to the Symantec website and investigate this
virus more thoroughly. There is an excellent explanation of most viruses
there that you will find very useful in dealing with problems such as these.

Good luck.
