Hello,

I had a problem with spyware. I've since cleared my computer of the spyware
and regularly scan for spyware. However, there's a couple of outstanding
issues left.

One is that although my sound is set at maximum, it's mostly barely audible,
making listening to DVDs impossible. Very occasionally (once a fortnight on a
PC used daily) the sound does work - then it nearly blows my head off. Do I
have to re-install my sound card? If so I'd need a bit of guidance. Any help
appreciated.

Thanks.

Things to try:

1. Reinstall the sound card drivers. Get them from:

a. The device mftr.'s website; OR
b. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
c. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer
(HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

2. If that doesn't help, try a different set of speakers. The ones you have
may be dying and the problem is just coincidental to the malware infection.

3. If neither #1 or #2 works, uninstall the sound card and swap it out for a
known-working one (if you have a desktop). You can get a basic sound card
for $5-25 USD.
