Failure to Update

I've got the same exact problem. The update feature seems
to run fine on my other PC but when I try to update on
this one it just dosen't work.

What message do you get? Is Internet Explorer set to "work offline?" Do
you have a software firewall?

My problem is exactly the same: in a direct phone-line
connection computers update correctly, but I cannot update
throw a proxy (but I can surf with IE and the correct net
configuration, what's currently in the problematic
computer)

Say more about the proxy. Microsoft Antispyware should be using the proxy
information defined for Internet Explorer to get out.

I get a message in red text saying "Warning, cannot
connect to internet" all my other programs that use a
update feature work just fine and i'm able to surf the
web alright, its just this program that wont connect.
The only firewall that I know of is the one that service
pack 2 came with and my IE browser is not set on offline.
This computer connects to an access point with my
wireless router and is not directly connected into the
wall, maybe that has somthing to do with the problem
because my other PC that connects directly to the wall is
the one that works fine.

There clearly must be.

Firewalls or proxies would be the next candidate I think of.

I had this problem and found that changing IE
to "Automatically detect settings" in the LAN settings
(connections tab of Internet Options) solved the problem.
