In my list of updates I keep getting a "failed" status for an "important"
update as follows; "Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework, Version 1.1
Servive Pack 1 (KB929729)". Who can help me with this? Do I have a problem
if I ignore it?

You can do it manually by using Google and doing a search on KB929729, which
should pull up a link where you can download it and try to install the
update. You got .Net FW 1.1 on the machine? You can tell that by using
Control Panel/Programs and Features. You should see .Net FW 3.5. So do you
see FW 1.1.

You can stop the update from showing in the Windows Update by going to the
Windows Update site, select View Update List, find the update line for the
update, right-click the line and select Hide, which will stop the update
from coming to the machine.

Thank you very much!

I only have two installed programs starting with the letter "N". They are
NVIDIA so I guess that I'll take your suggestion to stop the update from
coming to the computer.

No, that's not correct. It's going to Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and or
3.5, as the names in the list of installed programs.
