XP Pro SP3.
The update associated with KB953297 will not install. I have automatic updates set to
on, but I get the yellow shield in the systray telling me updates are ready to install.
I tell it to install, and get this message:
"Initializing installation... done!
Installing Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Windows
2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, and Windows Server
2008 R2 (KB953297) (update 1 of 1)... "
It sits there for a few seconds, then tells me that the install failed.
This occurs over and over.
When I shut down the computer, I get the message that an update will be installed, so
I let it run. The machine eventually shuts down. This has happened for several days.
I re-registered the update dlls, then went to the update site, and reviewed my
updates, and this one is listed multiple times as failed.
I tried a custom update. The web site tells me the update is downloaded, and ready to
install. I select Install, and it fails.
No server products are involved, nor is the computer on a network of more than 10 others.
Thanks,
Mike
