On a new install, I get the following message "Failed to load resource from
resource file. Please check Setup" when I attempt to create an Account or
Opportunity (but I can create a Contact).

I am running XP, Outlook 2003 SP1, BCM v2.00.4013.

Hi Mark

Can you insert the Office disk and do a detect and repair and then try
opening the Accounts and Opportunities

Raul Thomas

Hi Raul

I have tried running the repair utility from the Outlook Help menu. I
downloaded BCM 2 from the Web, so should I still use my old disk ? I have
also clear the forms cache and closed unused folders, and done several hard
boots.

I should perhaps mention that when I attempt to create an account record,
the account form is displayed but with the dialog box on top; acknowledging
the dialog box closes Outlook

I have this same problem. When it appears Outlook closes down. I can use
Outlook but when I us Business Contact Manager the error message appears and
it shuts down. I have repaired Office twice through add/remove programs and
it has happened again. I am anxious for a fix.

Hi Mark

Can you tell me what is the version of .NET Frame Work in add and remove
programs.

Raul Thomas

It is good to know that I am not the only person in the world with this
problem! Sometimes one is encouraged to believe by the software companies
that your problem is unique, and therefore your fault!

Hi Raul,
There are two entries. The first is .Net Framework 1.1 and the second is
..Net Framework Hotfix (KB886903)
Hope this helps

Thanks

Mark

Hi Raul
As indicated yesterday, the update was installed, but nevertheless I have
downloaded the link you suggested and asked the program to re-install, which
it did successfully. I then shutdown and rebooted my machine, but the problem
persists.

Any other ideas ?
Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark

The issue that you have is generally caused due to .Net Frame Work. You could
try uninstalling it from add remove and try reinstalling the same

Raul Thomas

Okay Raul, I've tried that. Ideleted .net from the Add / Change in Control
Panel, then re-installed from the XP CD. Problem still appears the same - ie
resource file message. What is the resource file please ?
Thanks
Mark

I am having the same error! No problem creating a contact, but get the
"failed to load resource..." error when creating an account or an opportunity.
I have SP1 of BCM v2.00.4324.00
Outlook 2003 SP1
Windows XP SP2
I have installed the upgrade to .NET Framework.

I am still running Exchange 5.5. Could this be the problem? We are in
the process of getting an Exchange 2003 test server set up and I will re-test
there. But, can anyone verify if this could be my problem?

I have now installed v2 SP1, but the problem persists!
Do you know what the status of the SQL Service manager icon should be? I am
suspicious that it is not running correctly. I have, from the BCM menu, gone
into Manage the database and succesfully checked for errors.

Hi Mark,

One thing I noticed is that you don't have the v2 SP1 installed yet.
Perhaps this can help? You can get it here:

I hope this helps...

I have SBS 2003 running Exchange 2003, so your Exchange 5.5 may not be the
issue.
Please also see my reply to Bob above - does this ring any bells with you?
Thanks

Hi Mark

Microsoft support installing Exchange Server components and Outlook on the
same computer (266418).
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;266418

So if you are running an Exchange server on the same compter it might be an
issue. Also with regard to the SQL Service Manager icon go to start > run >
svrnetcn.exe and enable TCP/IP and named Pipes that should take care of that

Raul Thomas

I am not running exchange on my computer. But, the exchange server I am
pointing to is 5.5. Does BCM support Exchange 5.5.

I did the check for TCP/IP and Named Pipes. They are both enabled.

Still cannot create an account or opportunity.

It sure does support it .And as far as the error message is concerned out of
idea right now but if i get something on the same will let you know

Hi
Just to clarify, I am using Outlook 2003 on my PC and with SBS/Exchange 2003
on the server. SQL seems to be running okay now. I have also loaded BCM onto
my notebook and that works fine.

Is it worth trying to configure my PC Outlook to use a BCM database running
on another machine eg the server?

Hi All

For the error messsage that you are getting when opening account can you try
a Detect and Repair of Office application from the maintaince mode option
rather than the option under help because i was able to resolve a similar
issue in the same manner.
Hope this helps
