Failed to initialize after GPO installation

I'm trying to roll out version 1.1 of defender via MSI and GPO to around 120
machines in our labs. All seemed to go well on a test machine, it installed
when the machine restarted as expected.

However if I log in as administrator or as a normal user I get the message:

"Application Failed to Intialize: 0x80070005. Access is denied."

I have seen others with this issue, most noteably this post:

http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=940284&SiteID=2

on the onecare forums.

However there doesn't seem to be an answer forthcoming.

Any ideas ? I've got 300 people expecting to use these machines from Monday.

Also, search on [MSFT] in the FROM line--that an ADM file will be available
by release, in each NG for WD.

Good luck

Thanks Engel,

This page does imply that an adm file will be available:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/about/releasenotes.mspx

I'll go do some seaching and get back if I can get it working.

BTW, logging on to one of the PC's and installing the 1.1 release does seem
to work fine. At the very least I can spend the weekend doing that on all
machines. I'll certainly look at Microsoft Forefront Client Protection for
our next desktop release.

Many thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for for updating the thread, and I'm sorry I don't have any better
advice to offer
maybe others can suggest ways to help with that.

Good luck and a Happy 2007

A desription of the ADM file can be found here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927367

Sadly though, none of these settings help with the install. It does however
allow me to turn of defender so the affected machines won't generate an error
on login.

I suspect the answer to the install problem involves editing the msi file
with orca if I can find the correct setting to change.
