I got the following message when I tried to use "standby"
The device driver for the terminal server keyboard driver device is
preventing the machine from entering "standby"
You may need to upgrade the driver
How do I do that?

Control Panel > Keyboard > Hardware > Properties > Driver > click 'Update
driver'.

Many thanks. I did so and got the following " The wizard could not find a
better match for your hardware than the software you currently have
installed"
What now?

There are people battling with this issue out there. Try a
search on "terminal server keyboard driver", because other
than a person having your problem, there is no earthly reason
to be discussing such a topic :-)
