Hello-
I recently built my own computer and am now installing
win xp pro on it. I had an error or two and it said it
couldnt locate some files from the CD. I skipped them and
now cannot get setup to finish or get to any means of
reformatting, etc (it asks for the win xp pro cd to
continue setup).

Any ideas on how to salvage the setup or scrap it all
together in order to try installing again?

Hi Scott,

The initial installation failure could have several causes, and they are all
hardware related:

- bad or mismatched ram
- cpu not clocked correctly
- BIOS antivirus detection not disabled
- not using an 80 wire cable for an ATA66 or higher drive
- other misconfigured hardware

I would go through and recheck all BIOS detection settings as well as
reseating ram and cabling. Not worth saving the failed installation, as
you've nothing on it yet.
