Hello

( I thought this would be a little easier, but not having much luck at
the moment. )

Using PPT 2000, we would like to have a series of text messages fade
in and out over top of a background that stays constant. What we have
so far is three slides, that loop forever, with the same graphic, and
different texts, in a placeholder. Currently we are using the
"fade-through-black" transition, but we want to apply the fade to only
the text, and not the background graphic. So far, transitions seem to
apply to all aspects of a slide, even the background on the master. A
key element of the look is the fade.

The closest we have come so far is using custom annimations with the
"dissolve", but this looks pathetic.

I know that this should be very easy to do with PPT2003. Should we be
leaning on the people in charge to spring for a copy of PPT2003? Are
there other programs that could do this?

Thanks in advance,

Villem,

you will be able to do a smooth fade (and a lot more) in PPT 2003. If it is
possible for you, you should upgrade - it's worth it.

I do not know a possibility to achieve this in PPT 2000, neither an Add-In
to do it.

Kind regards,
Ute

Both powerpoint 2002 (aka XP) and 2003 support the smooth fade (like an old 35mm dissolve effect)

The closest effect you might try on powerpoint 2000/97 is "random bars horiz/vert". It's not a dissolve but the effect
is similar.

Thanks, but the real problem is getting the text to transition without
affecting the backround graphic, in PPT2000. From what I've seen, the
fade through black in PPT2003 is better than PPTXP. I suspect that by
using the fade smoothly of PPT2003, and having an extra slide with no
text between each should create the result we are looking for. I was
thinking along the line of custom animations, and had forgotten that
with dissolves bewteen slides with the same image, the background
would stay the same. The only issue would be if they want longer
times, then custom animations is the way to go. Thanks for the
reminder.

The transition "fade smoothly" is missing like all new animation effect in
ITALIAN version of PPT 2003.
And new animation effect are not disabled.
Why??

Thanks in advance,
