Where in the registry does the Taskbar associate F3 with Win Exp's Find
because I would like to change it?

-----------------------------

Background info ...

I use an application (Locate32) which sets F3 to one of its own function
and I am happy with that.

(a) When the desktop is obscured by full size windows then I click the
Taskbar instead. But F3 now launches the Find function for Windows
Explorer.

(b) If I do click on the desktop then F3 will do what my app wants it to
do.

Where in the registry does the Taskbar associate F3 with Win Exp's Find

Nowhere. The taskbar is part of Explorer ("Explorer" is the name of the Windows shell, so everything you see, including the
taskbar, is part of it.) Whenever you press F3 while any part of Explorer is active, Windows will initiate a file search.

What happens if you run another program like Notepad or Calculator, then press F3? Does Locate32 still do it's thing or do you have
to activate it's window first?

The other program (Notepad) gets the F3.

Please note that I sometimes change some of th following three
settings and this maybe a factor.
