When I try to save files from my pc to a cd-r, I receive
the following error message:

"f:/ is not accessible. Incorrect function."

I am using Windows XP, and have visited the microsoft
website and downloaded all driver updates etc. I also
made sure my drivers and utilities CD was loaded on my
pc. I am the administrator on my pc, and am using this
account to try and save the files. What am I doing
wrong?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Just to be sure, you do mean you are saving files to your CDR in explorer
and not from an application. You cannot save files directly from any
application to your writer you need to do it from explorer.
If I have misunderstood then is the CD blank/unused or have you ever been
able to do this and its changed recently.

Did you format the cd?

Hello - thank you for your response. I have tried both
ways (directly from the application, and by right click,
explore). The CD is blank, and I am able to go into "my
computer", "right click" and "properties" and it
recognizes the disk is in the drive, and under media type
says "this disk can be formatted for read and write
access", and shows the disk as empty.

I was able to save items to a disk before (i.e. copying
cds, saving docs) and am not sure why this has changed.
I went into troubleshoot, as well, and it says the device
is working properly. In safe mode, it suggests I contact
the system admin to provide access, but I am the sys
admin, and am trying to save the docs under the sys admin
profile.

Strange, huh? :)

Thank you :)

How are you trying to get to that drive?

f:/ WOULD be an incorrect function.

f:\ (with a backslash...NOT a forward slash) would designate the F
drive. Or was that just a typo?

We need more details about your machine...number of drives, how
they're cabled, etc. Normally, you wouldn't have an F drive. At any
rate, you should change that drive letter to W (writer) to prevent any
further front-alphabet conflicts.

What version of Nero(?) are you usin'? When you drag and drop thru
your burner, will it allow you to do so?
