well i m now using the console for F@H, and using EM3 to monitor it. :)

But i cant tell if its sorted the games minimising, coz me DVD Drives gone tits up.......

But as the console goes it cool, and F@H does seem to run faster but i dont know for sure just yet.

This is a good guide for setting up the monitor program :thumb:

nice one VR

... nice 'how to' this is just what we needed.

It is recomended by them that have been doing this "folding" to use the console ... same reason I am using Wine to run the Windows version on Linux.

Anyway ... making this a stickie ;)

oh, sorry about your DVD drive ... need a new one then. :D

I'm still without sound ... deaf leading the blind. :p

I have been doing my head in all afternoon ... it looks Like I now also need a new mouse :(

... and there was me thinking my Linux was locking up. Flipping Santa is gonna be bringing me a shed load of new gear at this rate ... wonder if he can afford it.

:D

Nice, didnt expect that. Will try and give a bit more info in that case. :)

So far the console seems to be the better, when compared with the GUI. As mucks has said previously, you dont get the fancy graphics like with the GUI but i think i prefer the EM3 anyway. Its just less obvious i guess. You also dont even need that running.
The F@H client runs as a service, some people say, 'stealthed' as in, theres no obvious way of telling its working! :thumb:

The whole 'wine' thing is kinda weird, i mean i dont know much about linux, (only what i've read here) but i just assumed it would run faster on linux.

Its a bugger about the drive, just as i'd got my rig as i wanted it too (for the time being)

... the mind boggles

Wine

Well, to put it into its simple terms ... it is a Linux program that fools a Windows program into thinking it is running in Windows. Wine makes a 'C drive' folder with all the necessary folders that a Windows program needs.

Example;
I am using the (e-mail address removed) program ... I right click, and install using Wine ... The program then installs in exactly the same way as if it were in Windows.

There are hundreds of Windows programs, including games, that will work this way ... there are quite a few others that do not of course, but then I don't need a Windows version if Linux has a FREE program that does the same job. ;)

Sounds silly really ... you Windows users are running F@H console as Linux would, and I'm running it as Windows. Confused yet? :D
