EZCool 650 Watt PSU Faulty?

Hi,

Went round to my mates today, he has brought a new case and has swapped his PC into that one.

However when he plugs the DVD/CD drives in the PC shuts down, so we tried it without the DVD/CD drives in and it posts fine, turn it off plug them in and it won't turn on.

I tried using a molex - SATA connector and it works fine, but when we switch back to SATA modular lead it won't work!!!

I told him thats what happens to budget power supplies but why does the rest work on it and the SATA connection shorts the PC???

The PSU is an EZCOOL 650W Modular RRP: £35?

It sounds like it is a PSU problem, I would take it back to the shop where you got it from.

Its a 5 pin - 3 x SATA II, not seen any others like it, have contacted the seller and its getting picked up tomorrow, no replacement at the moment though.
