Every time I try to burn a CD Using EZCD Creator 5.3.5.10
(the latest update) I get a message stating my CD Burner
is in use by "Another Application: Roxio DirectCD
Kernal".

The CD Drive shows no problems on the Device Manager and
is available for use as a regular drive.

My Question is how do I get this "application" stopped
and free up my burner? Any help is appreciated.

I have found, on my computers, that if I format a CD with direct CD, I can
no longer use CD Creator to burn to the CD. This sounds reasonable, as
formatting sets the CD up for direct CD access through the O/S file system.

If you want to burn from CD Creator, do NOT format the CD first with direct
CD!

If the problem is on a CD-RW that was formated for packet writing (i.e.,
directCD), then you need to first erase the CD-RW, noit re-format, but
erase.

If the problem is a fresh CD-RW, try turning off direct CD before you start
Easy CD Creator. This can be done via the directCD icon in the system tray,
right-clcik and exit.

If the problem is with a CD-R, then you have a more serious problem.
Contact Roxio support for a solution, or at least how to completely
uninstall EasyCD and then re-install it.

In Services...disable IMAPI CD Rom Burning.
