Seems I read on a post somewhere that you shouldn't have Roxio's EZ CD and
Nero both installed on the same computer. Is that so? And... why?

There was a problem with older versions of these two programs. However the
current versions have no problems together.
You should not have the packet writing software for both installed at the
same time though. But you can do a full install of Easy CD Creator 5.5 and
update patches, or the new Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 and you can install
Nero just do not install InCD (which is the packet writing software
distributed by ahead) if you plan to have Direct CD installed. Nero and ECDC
co-exist just fine. --

You can have both of them - the things you must not mix are the
associated InCD and DirectCD which will fight. If you install the Nero
pair, and then install Easy CD - only- afterwards they will coexist.
But the Nero setup will object if it finds EasyCD already there
