If anyone has any information that could assist me, I
would greatly appreciate it. I am miserable while using
my computer, because I am attacked daily by what must be
some sort of spyware or other annoyance. My homepage
layout, has something called FindWhateverNow on it, and I
feel this is the start of the problems. When I search for
something, using a engine such as google(that I have made
my homepage), I constantly am funneled to something
called SearchItNow. I would greatly appreciate help with
this. I would like to remove this, as it seems to be
linked with some BlankDialer, that may be the root of the
problem. I have tryed to remove it many ways
(uninstalling, etc.) to no avail. It seems to come back
after a period of time. I have tried SpyBot and it
doesn't help. I do not know enough about registry editing
to mess with it, so hopefully someone out there may have
some advice on how to delte or alter this FindWhatEverNow
and SearchItNow problems. Thanks much for your help.

Hi Anthony,

For Pro: Go to Start/Run and type in: gpedit.msc
User Configuration/Windows Settings/Internet Explorer Mantainence/URLs. In
the right pane double click Important URL's.

Either uncheck all three boxes or fill them in correctly. Leaving them
unchecked still gives you the option of setting the HomePage manually via
IE.

Run this edit to unlock your HomePage settings:

What you should probably look into would be Lavasoft's program "Ad-Aware".
It's a great program aimed at deleting spyware and cookies you don't want.
Don't have a link handy, but google for it. Install it and run it, check the
results and delete everything you don't want. It takes care of registry
entries too. Another good one is SpyBot Search and Destroy. I don't like it
as much as Ad-Aware, but it does pick up some things that Ad-Aware doesn't,
and vice versa. I use them in tandem. Good luck.

Also look at deleting anything you might have under %windir%\Downloaded
Program Files (you might want to do it from a command prompt as the custom
viewer for that folder doesn't show every individual file). Anything that
you *really* needed will be redownloaded automatically next time you visit a
site that needs it.

I once found a ~60K file that posed as an INI (thus ignored and not shown by
Explorer's "Downloaded Program Files" viewer), which turned out to be an
executable that contained a resource block containing a DLL that had code
that, among other things, phoned home and called some APIs that can
typically be used for key logging. Nice and friendly stuff...

No, it wasn't my PC. :-p
