My son just moved to Florida for College, has a Dell
inspiration, he was on Comcast here at home in NJ ran
very fast , now on a broadband with his friends ,
network , router etc ( win XP home)
Everyone else's computer runs fast,. He can barely get
a page to load.. I went through all the parameters ISP
address, subnet, gateway etc.
Deleted all Comcast , new connection , ran the wizard,
keeps coming up with an error..
he also has a firewire card and I think it might be
trying to bridge the NIC and firewire card???
I told him to take out the firewire card and re boot and
start all over..
Could that be the problem? I would welcome any
suggestions and help
Thanks all
John S.

Sometimes autoproxy can make things slow. Select Internet Options from IE's
Tools Menu. Go to the Connections Tab, and select the LAN Settings button.
Clear the "Automatically detect settings" checkbox, and select OK.
