Extremely long Delays in "Open" dialog box

I have Windows XP Home Edition. When I use the "Look in"
flyout in the "Open" dialog box to open a new file
(happens alot in Word), it can take multiple minutes for
anything to happen. At first, I thought it completely
hung up, but if I wait long enough, it eventually works.
It's so bad, a "Not Reponding" message appears at the top
of the Open Window.

Has anyone else had this problem? Do you have any
suggestions?

Thanks,

Ed.

Disable the Windows Image Acquisition service.

Ed,

Check if the "Personal" shellfolder is correctly setuo in registry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell
Folders\Personal
Should be "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents"

If this does not help, try detect and repair feature of OFF2000.

I did that. No Difference. Still takes a long time.

Any other suggestions?

Actually,
I solved the problem. It had to do with persistant drive
mapping and how it gets handled in the Office XP
products. According to "Microsoft Knowledge Base
Article - 822621" I should have used "My Network Places"
instead of drive mapping. I did that and removed the
drive mapping and now all is well.

Thanks for your help.
