extremely bsic question about wallpaper

just got a new computer. for some reason when i change the wallpaper to
a photo windows keeps going back to a solid color.

this has never happened before on any other computer i've ever had.

When you changed the wallpaper...you need to hit the "apply" tab before
exiting

or else use better glue:)

i've been doing that. either the new walllpaper image will not even
show, it will stay up for a few minutes or stay there then revert back
to a solid color after restarting.

i'm thinking that maybe there is some sort of 3rd party program
interfering? it's a brand new hp notebook - it came with alot of
preinstalled crap.

No, it's never (at least hardly ever) necessary to click "Apply" before
"OK." The difference between "Apply" and "OK" is that "OK" applies the
change and closes the window, and "Apply" applies the change and leaves the
window open. That's the Windows standard and is the way it should always
work.

I suppose that it's possible that there are some programs that violate that
standard, but I don't remember ever running across any.

Well, it was better than my suggestion of using a better glue !
