Extraordinary long time for system to boot up

All of a sudden, with my having changed nothing, my
computer is taking 2-3 minutes to boot up. The cursor
appears with a blank screen. After the 2-3 minutes, it
is working fine. Any way to correct this?

The lack of or incorrect use of technical jargon here
indicates correctly I'm not very familiar with computers.
