Extra window opens

when I click on some link in a web page, an extra tab
opens on the taskbar but when I click it nothing happens.
I can only close it. Its title has the title of the
default page set on the internet explorer setting.
 
Make sure it's not some parasites.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.
