Extra Templates

I have a large number of templates gathered from several sources that I do
not want to put into the default template folder. I would like to be able to
view and use these templates whenever I want them however. Is there a way to
view and use these templates on demand (from the Design Panel, Available for
Use block) and then switch back to the regular default template file? I seem
to remember from some time back that there were some instructions somewhere.

PowerPoint 2003, Windows XP, SP2 and current updates.
