Extra Long Text Displays as "###########"

I want to display extra long text in cells. So I have
already formatted the cells as text, and used the "wrap
text" feature. I also have adjusted the cells to
accomodate a lot of text, and have used a small size
narrow font.
Problem is after a certain number of characters (approx.
200), the text displays as "###################" no
matter how big the cell area for it is.
The formula bar shows all the text, but it doesn't
display.
Workaround?

This does not work, nor does entering on new lines within
the cell using Alt-Enter.

There is some algorithm that instructs Excel to display
text as ####### after a certain number of characters.
And I have not figured out how to turn it off.

Sorry it didn't work for you.

And I have not figured out how to turn it off.
