Keith

I have been having the problem lately when I open up
internet explorer it shows two windows on my task bar.
One of them I can click on and it opens the browser and
the other when I try to open it, nothing happens. It is
really annoying because if I open up IE in three windows
then I have to close three of those stupid boxes or my
task bar gets full really fast. Sorry, I know this
sounds confusing but it is hard to explain. Please
help!!!

I think the problem may be an unwanted popup or a virus. Try changing your
home page (Tools > Internet Options > General tab, then change the home page
to one such as MSN or Yahoo). See if it still happens. Make sure your virus
protection is up to date, and obtain a malware/adware/spyware scanning
program and run it.

the other when I try to open it, nothing happens.

Probable malware. Probably controlled by a script.
What menu items show if you right-click on the taskbar window icon?
Assuming Move and Size are active you could try moving and sizing
the window with your cursor keys. As long as that script was active
you might see the window fade away again; so you could also use
the Security settings to set the Active Scripting to Prompt and see
if that lets your moving and sizing persist long enough to identify
the URL that is active (in the Address bar).

Are you online and connected when this happens? Often these things
need to feed off the web to propagate whatever it is that they are designed
to do. So you might also get more control by at least setting Work Offline
preferably before loading those two windows. One way to do that would
be to start OE first, use it to set Work Offline (Alt-F,W) and then start IE.

Good luck
