As you may have realized, the "blank" pages are not really blank but are
caused by extra, empty paragraphs, which you can remove by backspacing. If
this isn't working, the likely reason is that the last text in your document
is in a table. Word requires an ordinary text paragraph (even if empty) at
the end of a document because the paragraph mark holds the
document/section-level formatting. You can't delete this paragraph mark, but
you can prevent it from causing a blank page in one of two ways:
1. Make it very small. Format the font to 1 point and make sure that the
paragraph spacing doesn't include any Space Before or After.
2. Make it Hidden (Ctrl+Shift+H). You'll have to display nonprinting
characters to display the paragraph mark to have much success with this, and
sometimes it takes a couple of tries, but eventually when you rehide NPC,
the paragraph mark and the extra page should disappear. This is in some ways
a better solution than (1) because (a) it will work even when (1) doesn't,
and (b) it doesn't make the paragraph invisible for future editing purposes,
since you can still see the paragraph mark when you display NPC.
